Therapy is the perfect mix of curiosity and creative experimentation.

My passion for psychology began when I was about 6, maybe 7, years old, sitting at our kitchen table with my grandma, recalling our dreams from the night before and digging through the pages of several "dream dictionaries," to interpret the meaning. Analyzing dreams, a concept initially sparked by the father of psychoanlysis, Sigmund Freud, was my first introduction to psychology and the idea that the answers to our questions could be hiding in our subconscious mind.

Since, my love of symbolism and curiousity about the subconscious mind has grown and become more refined. I have obtained a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Trauma, from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and held several positions in the non-profit, public, and private health sectors.

My experience and continued training and education have allowed me to develop expertise in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, fertility, addiction, grief, and issues of purpose and meaning, through individual, group, and family counselling. As well, I have developed a passion for working with individuals who are directly and indirectly impacted by the justice system.

My approach to therapy has significantly evolved from my early days of dream analysis though I continue to embody that same curiosity and love of symbolism in my work with clients today.

I encourage all of my clients to view the work we do as an "experiment," testing out ideas, strategies and new behaviours as a means of exploring their subconscious patterns and desires.

I combine this approach with proven treatment methods: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic, Trauma-Focused, and Client-Centered Therapy, adapting my approach to each individual client.

I also recognize the importance of the relationship "fit" between client and therapist in creating the environment in which trust can develop and real change can occur. I strive to meet all my clients where they are at in the process of change and sometimes this means acknowledging when therapy is not the right treatment option at this particular time or, for any number of reasons, I am not the right fit as their therapist. Whatever the case, it is always my first priority to ensure that my clients receive the best possible care to meet their needs.

If you share my curiosity and believe I may be the right fit for you as a therapist, contact me today to set up an initial consultation.
